All products are cruelty-free and made in New Zealand with natural and organic ingredients.

A

Aloe Vera Extract*

Aloe Barbadenis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Extract

  • Aloe Vera is a natural ingredient superstar which is why you will find it in each of our formulations. It contains Vitamins A and E which are well known to be beneficial for skin and heap of minerals including Selenium and Zinc.

Why we love it:

  • It has the ability to penetrate skin to provide moisture which is great for those with dry skin and works well for those with oily skin as it has anti bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties thanks to its Saponin and Salicylic acid content.

Avocado Oil*

Persea gratissima (Avocado) oil

  • Avocados are one of natures super foods and its oil contains the minerals folate and potassium, and Vitamin C and K which are linked with increasing the skins ability to heal and reducing scars.

Why we love it:

  • We use it as one of our cleansing oils to help dissolve oil and make up without stripping skin of its natural acid mantel (natural oil layer), which is ideal for oily skin as harsh detergent and foaming ingredients can do more harm than good. It’s also good for dry skin as it enables skin to retain its natural moisture.

Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Salicylate, Eugenol, Farnesol, Geraniol, Isoeugenol and Linalool

  • These are naturally occurring components of Ylang Ylang essential oil. Whilst this is only used in a concentration of less than 1% as these are potential allergens it is a requirement that these are listed.

Camellia Oil*

Camellia Oleifera Seed Oil

  • Contains Omega 3, 6 and 9 that help to reinforce the skins natural barrier as well as antioxidants and Vitamin E.

Why we love it:

  • It’s able to deeply penetrate into skin so is an excellent moisturising ingredient.

Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract

  • Camellia extract is also known as green tea extract and provides strong antioxidant protection for cells, meaning it helps protect cells from free radicals that oxidises skin and can lead to premature ageing

Why we love it:

  • The health benefits of green tea and well renowned so it makes sense to include this in our moisturiser so that our skin cells can benefit from the antioxidant protection it offers.

Calendula officinalis flower extract

  • It’s high in flavonoids which are antioxidants and carotenoids. it’s also an anti-inflammatory so can calm skin

Why we love it:

  • As it’s rich in carotenoids these protect cells from oxidative stress which can lead to ageing.

Cetearyl Wheat Straw Glycosides

  • This plant-derived ingredient works to distribute the oil and water components evenly throughout formulations.

Cetearyl Alcohol

  • Whilst some types of alcohol can be drying to skin Cetearyl Alcohol is not one of them. It is a fatty acid that is plant derived and is used for its moisturising and thickening properties giving formulations a firmer consistency to assist in topical application. 

Cetearyl and Sorbitan Olivate

  • Are emulsifiers derived from olives and helps the water and oil parts of the formulations to mix and form an emulsion (cream).

Citric acid

  • This is derived from citrus fruits and works to balance the PH of skincare formulations.

Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract

  • Chamomile contains flavonoids and bisabolol which are known for their anti-inflammatory benefits.

Why we love it:

  • The calming, healing and soothing properties make it ideal for acne prone skin which is why it’s included in our moisturiser for oily and combination skin.

Chia Seed Oil*

Salvia Hispanica (Chia) seed oil

  • Contains Omega 3 and 6 that help to reinforce the skin’s barrier. It’s also been shown to be a potent antioxidant.

Why we love it:

  • The omega 3 and 6 fatty acids work to support collagen production to help strengthen the structure of skin cells.

Dehydroacetic Acid and Benzyl Alcohol

  • These are BioGrow approved preservatives used at less than 1% to ensure the quality of the formulations and to keep the natural oils from going rancid.

Glycerin (Vegetable)*

  • Is a plant derived moisturiser that is found naturally in skin and works to maintain the skin’s barrier function to protect it from outside pollutants and prevent dry skin.

Why we love it:

  • being an ingredient that’s identical to a substance our skin produces already it’s a great choice for a natural moisturising ingredient. It’s also one of the ingredients that make our moisturisers feel soft and silky.

Glyceryl stearate

  • Is a plant derived emulsifier which made up of fatty acids that contain oil and water molecules that work to mix together ingredients in formulations and prevent them from separating.

Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract

  • Licorice Root contains glabridin, which provides antioxidant protection and it is known to suppress overactive melanin production which can lead to spots.

Why we love it:

  • While having spots is ok its good to know that there are ingredients out there that are said to help reduce the hyperpigmentation that can happen which is why we’ve included it in our moisturiser.

Jojoba Seed oil*

Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) seed oil

  • Jojoba oil is packed with vitamins and minerals for skin health, including chromium, copper, iodine, Vitamin E and B Complex. It’s also a natural anti-inflammatory and is the same consistency as the skins own sebum (an oil like substance produced from the sebaceous glands).

Why we love it:

  • Because it’s the same consistency as the oil our skin naturally produces it makes easy work of helping to dislodge any impurities to gently cleanse skin.

Kanuka

Kunzea Ericoides (Kanuka) Leaf Extract

  • Kanuka extract is from the leaves of the Kanuka tree which is also known as the white tea tree and is native to New Zealand.

Why we love it:

  • Tea tree oil is well known for its role in preventing breakouts making it a perfect ingredient in our cleanser.

Kiwi Fruit Extract

Actinidia Chinensis (Kiwi) Fruit Extract

  • Kiwifruit is high in Vitamin C and ascorbic acid which provides antioxidant protection and helps to increase collagen production which leads to firmer skin.

Why we love it:

  • Collagen is found naturally in skin but gradually decreases from your mid 20’s, since vitamin C stimulates your skin’s own collagen production it’s essential in maintaining firm skin and lessening the appearance of fine lines. Which is why ingredients that contain Vitamin C are more than a nice to have there a need to have. You’ll also find ingredients that contain Vitamin C in our moisturisers.

Kumerahou

Pomaderris Kumerahou Flower Extract

  • Kumerahou is a native plant to New Zealand and it’s leaves make a natural soap when rubbed together. It is rich in saponin’s which provides antimicrobial protection.

Why we love it:

  • Being a natural cleanser that also provides protection from bacteria it’s a perfect choice for our cleanser.

Lemon Balm

Melissa Officinalis (Lemon Balm) Leaf Extract

  • Lemon Balm is part of the mint family of plants is high in antioxidants and caffeic and ferulic acid. It also contains tannins which are astringents.

Why we love it:

  • Because it contains caffeic and ferulic acid it is able to penetrate the layers of skin so that these antioxidants can get to where they are needed. 

Leptospermum Scoparium (Manuka) Leaf Oil

  • Manuka oil is an essential oil known for its astringent, healing and antibacterial properties it also provides a floral scent

Why we love it:

  • Similar to Ylang Ylang essential oil (below) we did not want to use a perfume or fragrance in our products (because parfum or fragrance on an ingredient list means companies can use hundreds of synthetic and natural ingredients that do not have to be listed) so pure essential oil was the right choice for our formulations. Manuka oil is perfect as it helps fight the bacteria that causes acne and provides a floral scent.
  • Note: While some essential oils are not considered safe to use while pregnant, for piece of mind we are happy to disclose that this oil is makes up less than 1% of the formulation and it is diluted as it is just a small part of the formulation.

Manuka Honey

Mel (Manuka Honey)

  • Manuka Honey naturally contains hydrogen peroxide which has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, it also draws moisture to the skin which nourishes and protects it.

Why we love it:

  • We think it’s nature’s perfect skincare ingredient as it’s great for moisturising and clarifying skin which is why you’ll find it in most if not all of our formulations.

Althaea officinalis (Marshmallow) root extract

  • Marshmallow root helps to protect skin and has anti-inflammatory properties

Why we love it:

  • Being a root it stores the water for the plant so it helps to moisturise and soften skin making it ideal for dry or flaky skin.

Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil*

  • Evening Primrose oil is high in gamma linoleic acid which helps skin to form healthy skin cells, it’s also an anti-inflammatory.

Why we love it:

  • Its high linoleic acid content makes it perfect to moisturise oily skin while helping to promote normal oil (sebum) production, combined with its anti-inflammatory properties it makes an ideal ingredient in our combination and oily skin moisturiser.

Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Oil*

  • Is high in antioxidants and Vitamins A, C, E and K which are beneficial for skin health. It has been found to stimulate keratinocytes in the skin cells which can help regenerate skin cells.

Why we love this:

  • New skin cells can leave skin looking younger by helping to reduce fine lines so we couldn’t not include this ingredient!

Rosehip Oil*

Rosa canina (Rosehip) seed oil

  • Is high in lioneic acids which help to prevent dry and flaky skin. It’s also high in vitamin C which helps cells to produce collagen.

Why we love it:

  • It’s well known for its moisturising abilities and for reducing scars and hyperpigmentation.

Rosemary Extract

Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) leaf extract

  • Rosemary helps to stimulate cell renewal and improve circulation.

Why we love it:

  • while it’s a great ingredient for healthy skin we currently only use it in a small percentage in our formulations as it is mixed with one of our Natural Botanic Extracts

Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Seed Oil*

  • Raspberry oil is high in Vitamin A and promotes healthy cell functioning and essential fatty acids which help to fight the damaging effects free radicals can cause to skin.

Why we love it:

  • Vitamin A is a wonder skincare ingredient and the fact that it comes packaged with antioxidants in the form of raspberry oil makes this one of our favourite ingredients

Safflower Oil*

Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil

  • Safflower Seed oil has high levels of Linoleic acid and omega 6 which can help to protect skin by repairing its natural barrier.

Why we love it:

  • Because skin that is low in linoleic acid has a tendency to produce sebum (oil) that is thicker than normal sebum and can lead clogged pores this oil is an essential component of our cleanser.

Sunflower Oil

Helianthus Annus (Sunflower)

  • Sunflower oil is an antioxidant and contains Vitamin E which works to moisturise skin

Why we love it:

  • while it’s a great ingredient for healthy skin we currently only use it in a small percentage in our formulations as it is mixed with one of our Natural Botanic Extracts

Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate

  • Is a plant derived emulsifier that works to combine the oil and water based ingredients together to form a cream.

Glycine soja (soybean) oil

  • This ingredient is used as a carrier for the Calendula Flower extract in a very small percentage.

Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E)

  • It helps to protect skin from damage by free radicals and UV rays, it also helps to heal dry skin.

Why we love it:

  • Vitamin E is naturally found in skin and is essential for healthy skin cells. While vitamin E is found in a lot of our ingredients it’s so amazing for skin that we’ve added it in separately as well.

Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil*

  • Grape seed oil is a skin care ingredient superstar, it’s high in linoleic acid which helps skin barrier function repair and has naturally occurring flavonoids which provide antioxidant protection. It’s also jam packed with Vitamin C and E.

Why we love it:

  • Because of its high linoleic acid component, it’s a great oil to provide moisture without clogging pores and being high in vitamin C it’s helpful for brightening skin and reducing spots.

Vaccinium myrtillus (Bilberry) fruit extract

  • It contains the flavonoids resveratrol and quercetin which help to prevent inflammation and Anthocyanins which give it it’s high antioxidant content.

Why we love it:

  • Being a potent antioxidant it protects cells from oxidative stress which can lead to premature ageing.

Witch Hazel*

Hamamelis Virginia (Witch Hazel) Extract

  • Witch hazel is an astringent that helps to tighten pores and clarify skin by absorbing excess oil.

Why we love it:

  • As it’s an astringent it fights against the bacteria that can cause acne and tightened pores help for smoother looking skin.

Xanthan Gum

  • Is a plant-based thickening agent which is used to improve the consistency of the formulations.

Ylang Ylang Essential Oil

Cananga Odorata (Ylang Ylang) Flower Oil

  • Ylang Ylang helps to balance the skin’s natural oil production and has a light floral scent

Why we love it:

  • Since we knew we didn’t want to use a perfume or fragrance in our products (because parfum or fragrance on an ingredient list means companies can use hundreds of ingredients that do not have to be listed) pure essential oil was the right choice for our formulations, and ylang ylang was perfect as its’ used in aromatherapy for elevating mood.
